Festa Orbis

The University of Auckland (2014)
Undergraduate Project

This group project aimed to revitalise Christchurch's city center by creating a one-night event featuring architectural installations designed and built by students from the University of Auckland, Unitec, and the University of Canterbury.

The project’s concept was to honor those who lost their lives and were deeply affected by the earthquake. The glowing orbs represented the enduring spirit of Christchurch, symbolising hope and resilience as the city continues to rebuild.

The installation was suspended from a scaffolding frame provided to each group. Fishing nets were used to hang the orbs, creating a semi-enclosed space where visitors could relax and enjoy the ambiance. By day, the installation added vibrant color and visual interest, while by night, it transformed into a captivating, glowing environment.
